Throughout Europe, people with intellectual disabilities face overwhelming stigma and prejudice and encounter significant barriers to realising their fondamental rights. EUMAP, the EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program of the Open Society Institute, in coopération with the Open Society Mental Health Initiative, has monitored this situation in 14 countries throughout Europe, both EU members and candidate countries: Bulgaria; Croatia; the Csgch Republic; Estonia; Greece; Hungary; Latvia; Uthuania; the Netherlands; Poland; Romania; Slovakia; Slovenia and the UK. Carried out by local experts and civil society groups, the monitoring focuses on the extent to which people with intellectual disabilities have access to éducation and employment. This sériés of reports présents the findings of the monitoring and also makes recommendations for improving the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. Vaimse puudega inimesi on kogu Euroopas sajandite vältel alavääristatud ning endiselt on neil probleeme eelarvamustega ning püüdes osaleda avali-kus élus, pôrkuvad nad kokku barjääridega oma pöhiöiguste teostamisel. EUMAP, Avatud Uhiskonna Instituudi EL-i Seire- ja Eestkosteprogramm koostöös Avatud Uhiskonna Vaimse Tervise Edendamise Algatusega, uuris vaimse puudega inimeste olukorda 14 riigis üle Euroopa nii EL-i liikmes-maades kui ka kandidaatriikides: Bulgaarias, Horvaaiias, Tsehhi Vabariigis, Eestis, Kreekas, Ungaris, Lotis, Leedus, Hollandis, Poolas, Rumeenias, Slovakkias, Sloveenias ning Suurbritannias. Käesolev uuring, mis on koostatud kohalike ekspertide ja kodanikuühenduste poolt, keskendub sellele, milline on vaimse puudega inimeste ligipääs haridusele ja tööle.
