The exact exploration of the events of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight is still a challenge for historical science. Searching for sources in archives and recording recollections may contribute to the accomplishment of this task. In her book that will probably be regarded as a curiosity in the future Dr. Adél Vehrer ethnographer ^^ combines these two methods. The general message behind the individual fates of the inhabitants of Sokorópátka increases the value of the book. In 1956 similar standing together, persistence and hope sustained the communities in hundreds of Hungarian villages, followed by decades of similar dramas and losses in the life of the families affected. We recommend this book to those who are interested in mysterious historical events that have not been explored yet or wish to know more about the 20th century or want to get acquainted more deeply with this era in an easy-to-read manner.
