LYNNE CHENEY is the author of America: A Patriotic Primer and a longtime advocate of teaching our country's history to children. A widely published author who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Mrs. Cheney believes that the story of America's women is particularly important for children and young people to know.

She has illustrated more than a dozen children's books, including Alexander, Who's Not (Do You Rear Me? I Mean It!) Going to Move and Super-Completely and Totally the Messiest, both by Judith Viorst.
