The conditions of the lawfulness of such acts and liability for possible lasting injuries have involved highly challenging and much debated problems. With a view to promoting international cooperation, Acade-mician Nizsalovszky surveys the legal aspects of the most typical medical actions, writers' opinions and relevant items of legislation all over the world. While special attention is devoted to the 1972 Hungárián Public Health Act which very considerably serves the progress of medical science, a large number of cases are analysed — by no means in an abstract manner — so that the work may be useful for physicians preoc-cupied with the legal limits of their special actions and their possible financial liability, for lawyers called to appraise such acts in the criminal law and civil law domain, as well as for readers with no expertknowl-edge of the topicai field.
