A NEW ENGLISH-CHINESE DICTIONARY is a medium-sized, comprehensive English-Chinese dictionary.
Besides the basic vocabulary and terms common to dictionaries of similar size, this dictionary also includes words, phrases and illustrative examples reflecting socialist revolution and socialist construction in China thus demonstrating the new look in China's revolution and construction and the mental outlook of her people. A fair amount of new words, new meanings and new usages culled from English and American dictionaries, books and periodicals published in recent years are also included.
To meet the different requirements of a wide range of dictionary users, this dictionary endeavours to cover as many of the senses of an entry word as is feasible in comparatively exact, concise, commonly used and easy-to-understand Chinese. Efforts have been made to provide, as far as possible, the exact Chinese equivalents.
