As Charles Fuller's new play opens, a black sergeant cries out in the night, "They still hate you," then is shot twice and falls dead. It is 1944 at Fort Neal, a segregated army camp in Louisiana, and the balance of the play tracks the investigation of the murder, which turns out to have more to do with the character of the victim than with the identity of the killer.
