One is surprised at the number of architectural flourishes in the upper heights of the tallest buildings - filigreed stones, gold pyramids, copper green embroidered abutments, gargoyles - as if the architects thwarted in the lower reaches of their structures could only indulge their fancies up at the top. But the overriding sensation is that from above the city looks empty: so little moves that is discernible.
