Electronic Commerce, enabled by rapidly emerging new technologies, delivers global business interaction at the touch of a button. In order to encourage the development and take-up of Electronic Commerce by enterprises and institutions in the Member States of the European Union, and thus ensuring the competitiveness of European business in the global marketplace, the European Commission stimulates a large number of projects. This book describes the project groups in the field of Electronic Commerce that took place with EU support and funding in the Fourth Framework Programme (FP4) of Research and Technological Development (1994-1998), as well as a number of projects in related programmes. Electronic Commerce, enabled by rapidly emerging new technologies, delivers global business interaction at the touch of a button. In order to encourage the development and take-up of Electronic Commerce by enterprises and institutions in the Member States of the European Union, and thus ensuring the competitiveness of European business in the global marketplace, the European Commission stimulates a large number of projects. This book describes the project groups in the field of Electronic Commerce that took place with EU support and funding in the Fourth Framework Programme (FP4) of Research and Technological Development (1994-1998), as well as a number of projects in related programmes. The projects fali into groups, which vary from industry sectors (healthcare, retail, tourism), through business process management, to components and issues for ecom (trust and confidence, IPR) and a group of projects dealing with quality, awareness and education and techolegal issues. The aims of this book are twofold: firstly, to accelerate the appfication of the results of these projects. Secondly, to help the community of project participants to optimally benefit from the EU programmes and, at the same time, provide a "flying start" for future research & development and piloting in Electronic Commerce and New Methods of Work in Europe in the Fifth Framework Programme (1998 -2002).
