Albin Brunovsky (1935), National Artist, is one of the rare artists whose creative work is exceptionally varied, rich, and immensely attractive for spectators. His contribution rests in multistratified artistic interests, in a high level of professional mastery, and, apart from these, in his participation in the form and movements of Slovak art of the last twenty years. This applies to his own work of graphic art and painting as weil as illustrating more than one hundred books and equally so to his long years of pedagogical work at the School of Fine Arts in Bratislava. The whole of Albin Brunovsky's work is exceptionally rich and varied in technique, subject-matter, and expression. It is remarkable and symptomatic of the artist that he manages to take whatever technique he chooses and carries it out with great concentration to absolute virtuosity.
