Ted Blake's presentations on the achievement of excellence in management made a lasting impression on all who heard him. To Doreen, Ted's wife, and )ean, Ted's PA, their lasting impression is the use he made, and his love of, 'The Impossible Dream", which was the first song he played in the first talk he gave for RECMAN, the Sports Council's annual conference, and which Ted called "The Leisure Manager's Quest".
When asked what he would like as his epitaph, Ted quoted what was printed at the bottom of his notepaper: "He helped people make better decisions". Our hope is that this book will help readers to do just that.
This book provides Ted Blake with a ch^pce to make a first impression on a generation of leisure, sport and recreation managers and others working in the field who never met him or heard him deliver memorable conference papers.
