The ILIB The International Lipid Information Bureau is made up of leading investigators and clinicians in the field of dyslipidemia and atherosclerotic disease. Current members are from Canada, Francé, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, and the United States. The ILIB serves as a source of information about atherosclerosis risk for physicians and other medical professionals, the public, and the média. Its efforts are intended to contribute to the better care of patients and to help decrease the world burden of morbidity and mortality from atherosclerotic disease. The launching of the ILIB in 1987 coincided with the initiation of the clinical guidelines of the National Cholesterol Education Program of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in the United States; the launching of a major physician education program on managing hypercholesterolemia by the American Heart Association; and the clinical introduction of lovastatin, the first approved HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor.... Its efforts are intended to contribute to the better care of patients and to help decrease the world burden of morbidity and mortality from atherosclerotic disease. The ILIB has organized communication sessions with the média on recent advances in dyslipidemia, published a newsletter to communicate to physicians new findings on dyslipidemia and coronary heart disease, and manned a hotline to answer questions from physicians concerning the management of individual patients. The ILIB spawned the American Lipid Information Bureau, the LatinAmerican Lipid Information Bureau, and the Asian-Pacific Lipid Information Bureau. Alsó, the ILIB has sponsored a number of meetings by an international panel to address questions in dyslipidemia, and in addition to this handbook has published articles prepared by the panel. Vissza
