Atmospheric chemistry has developed into a discipline which embraces nearly all of the subfields of chemistry itself - photochemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and natural products chemistry among others. It influences directly studies in pollution, the development of our planet, climatology and the origin of life.
This volume examines four facets of the field: aqueous chemistry in the atmosphere, historical records of atmospheric composition, microbiological sources and sinks of non-conservative atmospheric gases and aerosols, and photochemical reactions in the troposphere - production from gas phases. The authors of the articles and the group discussions have examined the present-day concepts and technologies in atmospheric chemistry and their relationships to more general environmental problems.
