Auditing Drug Therapy ^
In a narrowing health economy, it is important to establish systems for drug therapy audit. Apoteksbolaget AB (The National Corporotion of Swedish Pharmacies) has a long interest in drug utilization research. In celebraHon of its 20th anniversary in 1991 Apoteksbolaget found it appropriate and timely to organize an international symposium for invited participants on auditing drug therapy.
The aims of the symposium was to assess available methods to audit drug utilization and to improve the prediction of changes in the pattern of drug utilization.
In this proceeding from the symposium the background for auditing drug therapy is discussed and available methodology is presented. Ethical issues in drug utilization and auditing drug therapy in primary health care are other topics covered in the proceeding.
