CSÁKI .Member of the Hungárián Academy of Sciences The second symposium as well as the first one (held at Dubna, USSR in June 1969) was devoted to mathematical probléma of information theorv tmd its applications. The program comprised generál probléma of information theorv, probabilistic and algebraic encoding techniques, statistical methods of information theory, communication channels, studies and quantum aspects of information theory. Eminent scientists from twenty countries participated at the Symposium. Plenary meetings were held on the days of opening and closing of the Symposium. Topics on information theory, algebraic codes, probabilistic coding, communication systems, quantum channels, statistical methods, feedback channels, random processes, source encoding, correcting codes and communication channels weretreated in technical sessions.
