Das Hotel Dorint Soßtel Bayerpost wurde im Sommer 2004 eröffnet.
Der ungewöhnliche Name des Hotels verweist auf die Geschichte des imposanten Gebäudes an der Bayerstraße - es war ein Postgebäude, das von 1896 bis 1900 im Stil der italienischen Hochrenaissance erbaut worden ist. Im März 1901 öffnete hier das Münchner Postamt II seine Pforten,
Mit dem Gebäude sind viele interessante Postgeschichten verbunden, mehrere Millionen Postsendungen wurden hier im Laufe der Jahrzehnte abgefertigt, Generationen von Postlern arbeiteten in der Bayerpost.
1993 zog das Postamt aus. Nun stand das Gebäude für einige Jahre leer. 1999 wurde die Dorint AG Mönchengladbach auf das Objekt aufmerksam und beschloss, in der Bayerpost ein Fünf-Sterne-Hotel zu eröffnen. Das Hotel der Prestige-Marke Dorint Sofitel wird von der Accor Hôtellerie Deutschland betrieben.
