Hungárián towns. Are they beautiful? A reasonable question to ask since there are many countries in the world where history has been kinder and more gentle, where time has saved the monuments built by man and preserved them. Yet here in Hungary, a visitor can see and sense a tangible beauty; and when guided by Pál Granasztói he can recognize, for example, the difference between a Transdanubian town and one from the Great Hungárián Plain. He explains at length the importance of gardens and parks withinthe overall design of a town. He helps us perceive the many points of interest which we might have missed so easily, thereby giving us much of value. This volume discusses twelve towns of Hungary. They rangé from Győr and Szombathely, whose roots are firmly embedded in Román times, to Miskolc and Salgótarján, which are úrban cities, created by the needs of modern industry, and influenced to a great extent by modern architecture.
