Birte Hilberg is a well-known patch-worker and designer. She has won rosettes at several quilt shows, including firsts at Quilts UK 1990 for her cot quilt 'Playtime' and for Best Pieced Quilt. Using her own original designs, she employs striking colour combinations and her work has been exhibited in several European countries. A recent commission from the European School in Luxembourg involved a wall-hanging using all of the flags of the EEC member nations.
Birte is a longstanding member of the UK and Danish Quilter's Guilds and her articles have appeared in English, Dutch and Danish magazines. She is Danish, but has lived in the UK since 1982. With the help of her computer-specialist husband Claus, Birte has spent seven years developing a unique computer system for creating original patchwork designs. This work, which has caused a great deal of interest in the patchwork world, forms the basis of The Patchwork Planner. Birte and Claus Hilberg live in Oxfordshire. Vissza
