A collection of authentic l8'"2061 legends and lőre James Willard Schultz came west as ayoung man in the late 1800s and lived among the Blackfeet for many years. Speaking their language and using sign language, he absorbed hundreds of stories about the tribe, its history, and oral tradition. Eventually Schultz wrote numerous books about his western experiences. When he died in 1947, the Blackfeet tribe buried him near Two Medicine River, not far from Glacier National Park. "My fellow tribal members who enjoy Schultz's books give him high marks for story teli ing and for keeping memories alive.
