THE BLACKFEET
Artists of the Northern Plains
by Bob Scriver
Bob Scriver is a man of great and varied accomplishments: an internationally recognized Western sculptor, an accomplished cornet player with a master's degree in music, a well-known taxidermist, and with his father, Thaddeus Emery Scriver, a collector and preserver of a large segment of Blackfeet Indian material culture.
Scriver comments that as he inventoried the Scriver Collection "I was struck by the exceptional quality of primitive art that was evident throughout the collection. What impressed me most was the innate sense of design, color and craftsmanship in the creation and decoration of these items. Early Blackfeet art is original, simple, and refreshingly straightforward."
Philip H.R. Stepney, Director of the Provincial Museum of Alberta, states that the Scriver Collection is "one of the finest collections of historic Blackfoot material. It contains over 1,500 individual pieces pertaining to the last days of... Tovább

Philip H.R. Stepney, Director of the Provincial Museum of Alberta, states that the Scriver Collection is "one of the finest collections of historic Blackfoot material. It contains over 1,500 individual pieces pertaining to the last days of the classic buffalo-horse culture and the early reservation period of the late 1800s."
Scriver expresses his "deepest respect and appreciation to the countless Blackfeet and other native craftspeople who, though unknown, created the beautiful objects pictured on these pages. I also wish to thank the people who recognized the need to preserve these items so that future generations of Blackfeet could marvel at, study, and be inspired by the work of their forefathers."
Now in its second printing this internationally acclaimed Blackfeet treasury was honored hy the Printing Industry of America as one of the outstanding art books created in 1992.
