The author Boris I. Vukobrat is Yugoslav. He was born on 5 March 1940 in Zagreb of Serbian parents from Croatia. His wife, Hajrija, comes from a Bosnian Moslem family and is, like her husband, Yugoslav. An economist by training, Vukobrat graduated from the School of Foreign Commerce of Belgrade and tried, in vain, to work in his country after completing his military service ; as he was not a member of the Yugoslav Communist Party all his efforts failed. It was then that he and his wife decided to leave Yugoslavia for France. Having arrived in Paris in December 1965, he was successively a house painter, a skilled worker at Renault, and a traveling sales representative. He entered the Copechim company and took it over, turned it around, and made it one of the strongest in its sector. At the head of this company Boris I. He and his family reflect all the diversity of his homeland, which he has never ceased to serve, trying through all the means available to him to help his compatriots in the terrible trial that they are going through. A man of action who knows that destiny is always a question of will, Boris I. Vukobrat does not resign himself to the worst. Knowing the profound riches of Yugoslavia and convinced that the country will remain united despite its present divisions, he believes that it will be necessary to reunite one day the Yugoslav peoples within a new community. To study and propose solutions to the difficult problems posed by the passage from totalitarianism to democracy and from collectivism to the market economy, Boris I. Vukobrat created a foundation in Switzerland, the Peace and Crisis Management Foundation, of which he is President. The book that we present here is the result of his reflections on the future of the Republics of ex-Yugoslavia. He formulates precise Proposals for constructing peace. His ideas are supported by the opinions of a group of experts of international renown, who have drawn up several reports showing the feasibility of this project. Vissza
