Building Strategies is the second book in the Strategies Series - a series which takes students from beginners' ^gKgJgto First Certificate level. Building Strategies is for P^wefrtary and pre-intermediate students who have ®studij3d English for at least 120 hours of class time.
Building Strategies takes the communicative needs of the leaKner as its first priority and, at the same time, covers the important grammatical structures of the language. These are presented in a practical and systematic way throughout the 16 units which provide for approximately 100-120 teaching hours.

It trains the student in important discourse functions such as description, instruction, explanation and Narration. It also encourages the development of reading through a number of contemporary edited texts.
Building, Strategies is accompanied by cassettes, a workbook, a test booklet and a teacher's book. The set of cassettes contain presentation dialogues, open dialogues, listening passages and oral exercises, and the listening passages which make up the listening skills section of Building Strategies Tests.
The Teacher's Book contains an introduction to the principles underlying the course, practical teaching techniques, step-by-step teaching notes, transcripts of all the recorded material and a key to the tests.
A video film, Family Affair, incorporates the key language presented in Building Strategies in the same sequence as it appears in the book. Family Affair has its own student handbook and teacher's guide and can be used independently of the course book with any pre-intermediate and intermediate students.
Family Affair is available on two cassettes in most common video formats.
