Developing Strategies is the third book in the Strategies series. Students and teachers who have used Starting Strategies and Building Strategies will be familiar with the communicative approach adopted in this book. Developing Strategies is designed for intermediate students aged 15 or over and aims to develop effective and confident communication in English. It develops the learner's oral and aurai skills with extensive practice in communicative settings; it alsó systematically develops the learner's reading and writing skills. Learning progress is clearly indicated by regular and accessible summaries of the functions and the structures covered in the material. Developing Strategies contains 15 units of work. Each unit starts with a character in a local situation and develops a theme of wider, more international relevance. These themes, presented through authentically-based materials, are fully illustrated in colour. Students use these materials to build and develop their knowledge of the language. Developing Strategies alsó provides practice in the use of relevant study skills such as note-taking and organised writing. The recorded materials contain dialogues, listening passages and oral exercises. The Teacher's Book, after describing practical teaching procedures and the principles behind the course, gives step-by-step teaching notes as well as breakdowns of the functions, topics and structures presented in each unit.
