Burger Ciliié is a well-known nature photographer and author and coauthor of five other field guides on southern African mammals and birds. He grew up in the Pilanesberg when it was still a farming community and it is therefore not surprising that he has an intimate knowledge of the area. With his love of nature and experience as author. Burger was the obvious choice to compile this book.
Ulrich Oberprieler has co-authored three bird field guides together with Burger. He is presently deputy director of the National Zoological Gardens in Pretoria. A keen photographer, he is most well known for his superb courses on mammals, birds and the environment. In this way he is also involved in the Bushveld Mosaic Course offered by the Friends of Pilanesberg.
Christo Joubert joined forces with Burger and Ulrich to put this book together. He is currently practicing environmental management in the platinum industry and is involved in youth environmental education programs in the region. Christo is an enthusiastic birdwatcher and also a keen wildlife photographer.
