As a textbook for a first course in finance, Business Finance for Decision Makers has an established and growing reputation. In this third edition (the second edition under the current title) the book has been made even more accessible to its student audience. The text and illustrations have been printed in a second colour to enhance eye-appeal and readability. The book has been divided into four parts to clarify the main themes. Business Finance for Decision Makers is an introduction to financing and investment decision making. The main theories and practical issues are discussed. Where theory diverges from practice the book tries to reconcile and explain the differences. It also assesses the practical usefulness of some of the theories which do not appear to be applied widely in practice. Non-technical language is adopted where possible and the book does not presume a high level of mathematical competence on the part of the reader. Detailed mathematical proofs of theoretical propositions are included in chapter appendices to improve narrative flow. The theories and practices examined are, for the main part, equally valid in the context of the private sectors of all the world's countries.
This book is suitable for courses in finance for accounting undergraduates and for undergraduate business students. The book is also likely to be of use to MBA students and professional accountancy students, particularly those taking the ACCA Paper 8 Managerial Finance; CIMA Stage 4 Paper 13 Strategic Financial Management; ICAEW Intermediate Paper Business Finance and Decisions; and the Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance Paper 3 Financial Management.
