The First Epistle to the Corinthians
Charles Hodge (1797-1878)
This once famous American commentary was first published a hundred years ago when Charles Hodge was Professor of Exegetical and Didactic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. Hodge was first appointed to Princeton in 1820; by the time of his death over halfa century later he had become perhaps the best known teacher in the Reformed Churches and his commentaries had taken their place as standard works. "Hodge's method and matter make him doubly useful in commenting" wrote C. H. Spurgeon. "He is singularly clear, and a great promoter of thought The more we use Hodge the more we value him."
Those who have this book, which has been long unobtainable in Britain, have highly prized it.
