Artists in China were mainly concerned with landscape and man's relationship to nature. Edmund Capon, director of the Gallery of New South Wales, has chosen 64 of the most rewarding examples of this beautiful art, which are reproduced in a size that not only does them justice but allows the reader to remove them from the book for use as posters or prints to frame. Chinese life and art has roused enormous popular interest in the West, and painting is recognizably one of the best ways of penetrating the Chinese mind.
