BIOCHEMISTRY OF HUMÁN GENETICS because of its theoretical and practical importancc, humán biochemical genetics in relation to the problem of gene action-the theme of this syinposium-focuses the interest of geneticists, biologists, biochemists, bacteriologists and pharmacologists. Gene action, the most fundamental of all biological processes, has been the subject of studies which have led to somé outstanding discoveries in recent years. This record of a meeting of experts to assess their present state of knowledge in the field, and to formulate plans for future research, has a very liigh content of new material and speculative discussion. Following an introduction on genetical analysis in Man, the papers are in three groups: (i) problems of genetical control of metabolism, (2) synthesis of proteins and other macromolecules, and (3) basic facts relevant to the mechanism of gene action.
