Come Hither, Nurse
Jane Grant
This light-hearted account of a nurse's three year training is for everyone who likes to read about professional life from the inside. We follow Jane and herfriendsfrom Prelinninary Training School on to the wards of a famous London teaching hospital. The sudden crises; the tellings-off by Sister; that terrible night when everything goes wrong; the fun and games, crushes and heart-throbs, the tragedies and the classic comedy situations; through them all the fortunes of Jane can be followed, as she develops from a clueless Junior to a responsible Strings.
Though gay and amusing, the book is not entirely frivolous. With feeling but without sentimentality, the stories of several patients are told; stories in which their nurse plays a special part in that close nurse-patient relationship known to all who have been in hospital.

The publisher would like to record his appreciation to all those librarians, welfare officials, and committee members of Institutions for the Blind whose valuable advice and assistance has helped to make publication of this series possible. While it is primarily intended y that these books should provide entertainment in the form of popular fiction by well-known authors, it is to be hoped that readers, librarians, and others who are interested in the problems of the partially sighted will feel free to offer advice and suggestions as to directions in which this series may develop.
