About the Book
Here in a single volume two experienced practitioners focus on the opportunities for family doctors to deal with cardiovascular disease - the single most important cause of death amongst adults in the developed world.
Recent developments in effective preventive measures, new drugs and surreal techniques make it increasingly important to recognize those at risk, to diagnose accurately and to prescribe, monitor and refer appropriately.
By adopting a practical and commonsense approach the book provides an ideal review of modern approaches to cardiology. It is divided into five parts: basic principles; cardiac drugs; the diagnostic process; cardiac disease; and the role of general practice.
For experienced doctors as well as for trainers and trainees in family practice, this comprehensive volume provides a wealth of practical information on cardiovascular medicine.

About the Authors
George and Gillian Strube started their practice in Crawley in 1962 with the idea of extending the scope of primiuy care as far as they could.
During the early years in practice, George was a clinical assistant at the Westminster Hospital chest clinic and later at Cuckfield Hospital in generd medicine, before the practice grew and demanded more of his time. He obtained the MRCP in 1968 and has been a GP trainer since 1975.
Gillian first became interested in cardiology as a final year student on Sir Russell Brock's firm at Guy's. She is also a trainer and medical writer and works as a clinical assistant in cardiology at the Royid Sussex Coimty Hospital in Brighton.
They are practical GPs who provide the full range of primary care and see constant reappraisal and development as part of the service. Vissza
