Two and a half years ago, Political Capital (Hungary), Counterpoint (United Kingdom), the Center for Research on Prejudice (Poland), the Institute for Public Affairs (Slovakia), and the Zachor Foundation (Hungary) embarked on a project to develop an effective response to conspiracy theories in Europe. The aim of the project was both to build a stronger understanding of conspiracy theories and to explore how those conspiracy theories that pose a danger to democratic values can be dealt with and, if necessary, short-circuited. This compilation brings together somé of the written highlights from our project. With the recent furore surrounding the anti-Semitic comedian Dieudonné in Francé, last year's scandal in Hungary over the state award given to conspiracy theorist and journalist Ferenc Szaniszló, and the surge in support for somé populist parties at the European Parliament elections, it appears that the context in Europe is still highly favourable for conspiracy theories.
