Fülszöveg

From the Celtic lands of Cornwall, Ireland, Brittany, the Isle of Man, Wales and Scotland, the world of the Celts has numerous facets and beautiful images. This book describes and shows graphically the wealth of motifs and the fascination of Celtic images, from the early artefacts of Celtic civilisation to a modern renaissance, and from both their pagan and then Christian traditions. There are wonderful descriptions and superb visual depictions of crosses, standing stones, carvings, craftsmanship, legend and religion - the very essence of the Celtic image.
The stunning illustrations, in colour and black and white, by noted artist Courtney Davis are both works of art and a source of inspiration. These vibrant images and the text by Celtic publisher and writer David James make this book informative and stimulating.
Whether revealing the faces of ancient gods and figures such as Cerunnos, or the Christian-inspired glories of the famous illuminated Gospels such as the Book of Kells,... Tovább

Whether revealing the faces of ancient gods and figures such as Cerunnos, or the Christian-inspired glories of the famous illuminated Gospels such as the Book of Kells, this is a celebration and tribute to the whole of Celtic history and tradition.
David James edits the magazine Celtic Connections, after many years involved with and living in Celtic communities. He has lived with the Zona Community, and with the Findhorn Community studying Pictish sites; he visited a wide range of Celtic sites throughout Scotland's west coast and researched ancient sites in a remote part of Wales. He is dedicated to Celtic matters, ancient and modern, from carvings to music.
Courtney Davis is probably the most widely acclaimed artist working today in the Celtic tradition. His previous books have spread his name and reputation further around the world. Entirely self-taught, his natural skills as an artist and his inspired work in Celtic illustration earn praise whenever they are encountered. He lives with his family in Dorset, working on his paintings and illustrations. Vissza
