Drug Safety in Clinical Practice examines the relationships between the toxic profiles of drugs, the natural history of the diseases for which they are given, and adverse drug effects that may develop in the course of such diseases.
Emphasis has been placed on achieving maximum benefit and safety of the appropriate drugs in the management of common illnesses. Factors responsible for treatment failure have been considered, with special attention to the possible contribution of or implications for drug therapy in such a situation. Patients who may be at special risk of drug injury are considered. Finally, proposals have been put forward for improving the diagnosis and reporting of adverse drug effects.
Wherever possible a "position" has been taken on issues, based oh the author's own experience and his understanding of authoritative literature. In this sense this book is didactic rather than discussive and "academic" in nature.
