Victoria Glendinning is the author of one previous novel, The Grown Ups, and won the Whitbread Award for her 1992 biography of Anthony Trollope. She is also the author of four other biographies: Rebecca West, Vita: A Life of Vita Sackville West, Edith Sitwell, and Elizabeth Bowen. She divides her time between London and West Cork, Ireland.
