ABOUT THE BOOK
ELEMENTS OF VIBRATION ANALYSIS
has been revised significantly in the second edition. More elementary material and practical applications have been added to the first four chapters, making these chapters an ideal introduction to vibration analysis. The remaining eight chapters feature material appealing to intermediate and advanced readers. Clear, unambiguous language simplifies even the most sophisticated topics.
This book provides contemporary coverage of the pivotal concepts and techniques in vibration analysis. The chapter on the finite element method (Chapter 8) has been rewritten completely to include the most recent developments. In addition, a new chapter on computational techniques (Chapter 12) has been included, reflecting the increasing role of digital computers in solving vibrations problems.

ALSO FROM McGRAW-HILL
METHODS OF ANALYTICAL DYNAMICS
Leonard Meirovitch, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University 1970, 485 pages, (0-07-041455-6)
Combining discussions of both the formulations and behavior of dynamical systems, this comprehensive text ensures a broad-based, yet thorough understanding of analytical dynamics. Many of the important concepts in dynamics and non-linear mechanics are discussed within the context of their contemporary engineering applications.
APPLIED FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS AND VARIATIONAL METHODS IN ENGINEERING
J.N. Reddy, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University 1986, 450 pages (tent.), (0-07-051438-1)
This book introduces functional analysis techniques and variational and finite element methods that are useful in the study of differential equations arising in engineering analysis. It provides thorough coverage of techniques which engineers actually use to formulate and solve problems in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, elasticity, and other important areas.
KINEMATICS AND DYNAMICS OF MACHINES, 2/e George H. Martin, Emeritus, Michigan State University 1982, 492 pages, (0-07-040657-X)
Considerably revised and expanded in its second edition, this book is divided into two parts: Kinematics of Machines and Dynamics of Machines. The comprehensive coverage provided equips the reader to apply the methods of kinematic and dynamic analysis to the design of mechanisms and machines.
