James Stanfield spent fi ve years as a staíf photographer for the Milwaukee Journal before becoming first a freelance and then a staff photographer for nationai. Geographic. Over the past three decades he has illustrated 60 articles for the magaziné, as well as several books, including Inside the Vatican. He lives in Virginia.
