These Proceedings contain lectures and discussions of the Symposium on "Differentiation and Neuroendocrine Regulation in the Hypothalamo - Hypophysial - Gona-dal-System" held in Berlin GDR, with the participation of experts in Endocrinology of Sex from 20 countries.
The meeting was organized for several reasons: 1. As early as 60 years ago, S. Aschheim started to investigate problems of sexual endocrinology in Berlin, 2. W. Hohlweg, as successor of S. Aschheim and founder of the Institute of Experimental Endocrinology, was just going to celebrate his 70th birthday. 3. The reconstruction of this institute, representing the oldest building of the Charité, had just been finished. But most of all, new findings on the diiferentiation and neuroendocrine regulation in the hypothalamo - hypophysial - gona-dal-system had been obtained in the laboratories if this institute during the last decade. The meeting was organized for several reasons: 1. As early as 60 years ago, S. Aschheim started to investigate problems of sexual endocrinology in Berlin, 2. W. Hohlweg, as successor of S. But most of all, new findings on the diiferentiation and neuroendocrine regulation in the hypothalamo - hypophysial - gona-dal-system had been obtained in the laboratories if this institute during the last decade. Thus, the urgent desire existed to exchange views on these problems with experts in sexual endocrinology from diiferent parts of the world. Many well-known research workers accepted the invitation and presented most recent results obtained in their laboratories.

Die Zeitschrift „Endokrinologie" gibt allen interessierten Naturwissenschaftlern und Medizinern durch Originalarbeiten ein Querschnittsbild der modernen endokrinologi-schen Forschung. Die experimentelle Endokrinologie, biochemisch oder morphologisch orientiert, die vergleichende Endokrinologie und die klinische Endokrinologie, Soweit sie auf Laboratoriumsbefunden basiert, stehen im Vordergrund. Klassische Kasuistik ausgenommen seltene Kjankheits-bilder vom Charakter eines Naturexperiments, und die Hormontherapie sollen dagegen den klinischen Archiven vorbehalten bleiben.
