Nowadays, it is not unusual to see a Toscano cigar in a glass. It is as if time had stood still in such a glass. Over two centuries have gone by since somé old grandfather had the idea of dipping a Toscano in a glass of wine, which is just like the natural gesture of a child dipping a biscuit in a glass of warm milk at breakfast. But who had this idea, and to whom do we owe this increasingly common gesture, which for somé has even become a profession? The idea of moistening a cigar and accompanying it with wine must have come from someone who had a profound knowledge of both the Toscano and wine - an expert in tobacco as well as winegrowing. Or it could have happened completely by chance, as was said to be the case with the Toscano, due to a natural process of fermentation after a heavy shower soaked a batch of tobacco.
