In addition to the A through Z coverage, a detailed appendix contains much helpful information: a directory of arms associations in the United States and abroad, a directory of suppliers of guns, cartridges, and accessories, tables of balUstics and conversions, and a list of foreign gun terms with their English equivalents.
The FIREARMS ENCYCLOPEDIA deserves a place in the library of everyone who uses or admires firearms. It will be referred to as an authoritative source of information for years to come.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Major George C. Nonte, Jr. is ideally suited to write the FIREARMS ENCYCLOPEDIA. He is, says Colonel Charles Askins, "one of those free-wheeling experts who qualifies in my book as a real authority."
For many years Major Nonte has been an active participant in the gun world. He was an ordnance oificer in the army and was active in the military marksmanship program. He has fired hundreds of thousands of rounds in every type of firearm — from Derringer to military cannon. He has experimented with, tested, and evaluated guns. And he has competed in shooting matches and hunted every type of game.
Currently Technical Editor of Shooting Times magazine. Major Nonte also contributes to other firearms periodicals and serves as a consultant to gun manufacturers on the design and performance of new models. His many books include The Shooter's Bible Gun-sight Guide, Pistol and Revolver Guide, Home Guide to Cartridge Conversions, and Modern Handloading.
