The outstanding results achieved in music edu-
cation in Hungary have attracted the attention of
the whole musical world. Many international
musicians have gained experience by studying the
theory and practice of the intensive musical
training and instruction in this country. There is
now an increasing number of people who wish
to become acquainted with the organisational
methods and curriculum of Hungarian music
education.
It is to satisfy this growing interest that the
present volume appears, containing articles by
the most prominent Hungarian musicologists and
separate chapters dealing with musical instruction
in Hungary and the teaching of singing and
general music in schools.
This is a comprehensive study of music edu-
cation from the lowest to the highest grade,
from the primary teaching of music in the kinder-
garten and secondary school, to the special music
secondary schools and the Academy of Music.
