BY GEORGE BALBAR
My first impressions of Hamilton-Weritworth go back a long time, when I was a visitor from Western Canada.
During several subsequent visits to Hamilton-Wentworth and after moving to St. Catharines some 20 years ago, I was able to observe the dramatic changes in the region, including the exciting new developments.
This book is therefore a celebration of the Hamilton-Wentworth of today! We have made sure to remember its origins, history and uniqueness. Canadians and immigrants alike have taken advantage of the opportunities offered and invested their working lives in making Hamilton-Wentworth the special place it is!

All proceeds from the sale of this book will support the viork of these two non-profit community organizations.
ALTERNATIVES FOR YOUTH
The unique community portrayed in this book Is like all others In one tragic way. Here, as elsewhere, alcohol and drug abuse is damaging the lives and destroying the future of many young people, some only 12 years old. In fact, the problem is growing worse with easier access to such hard drugs as cocaine and crack.
Alternatives for Youth was founded in 1960 to help young people who are determined to turn their lives around before it is too late. It is their only resource in Hamilton-Wentworth for professional counselling as well as moral support.
Its effectiveness is recognized by the United Way and the Provincial & Regional Governments. Additional funds are needed however, to help those already addicted and for educational, preventive programs in schools and throughout the community.
THE ROTARY CLUB OF HAMILTON
The Rotary Club of Hamilton was founded in 1913. Over the last 75 years they have provided assistance to many organizations and individuals.
However, the area that continues to provide Rotarians with the greatest satisfaction is their work with handicapped children. Whether it is through their swim program, Childrens' Party or driving a child to camp, each Rotarían has a unique opportunity to learn from these special children. Vissza
