TROMPE-L'OIL
(Painting in perspective) carried out - according to a plan of the architect Mauhzio Momo - by the designer Fulvio Lanza, it was placed at the beginning of February 1998 behind the trellis which supports the arched glass window which separated the Cathedral from the Chapel of the Holy Shroud. The window was added during the reign of Charles Felix (1821-18311 and was destroyed during the fire of n-12 April 1997. The present painting faithfully reproduces the original design created by the great Theatine Cuarino Cuarini, as can be seen from the print, engraved by Bartolomeo Giuseppe Tasniere as memorial to the exposition in 1703, from the balcony of the Chapel, in the presence of Duke Victor Amadeus II, Anne of Orléans and the royal princes.
