Teresa Gallagher is superbly qualified to answer. In 1956, deeply moved by Tom Dooley's book Deliver Us from Evil, she organized a group which sent supplies to his jungle clinic in Laos. Months later, when Dr. Dooley came home on a visit, their distant collaboration became a warm friendship—a friendship which lasted until he died in 1961. In this book, Miss Gallagher writes of Tom Dooley's personality, his phi -losophy, his goals, his almost superhuman courage in the face of death.
