Harold Pinter was born in London in 1930. An actor from the age of 19, he wrote his first play in 1957. Also available in Evergreen editions are The Birthday Party,, The Room, The Dumb Waiter, and The Caretaker, the last of'which was produced in NeW York by Roger Stevens and Frederick Brisson in the fall ,j3f. 1961, to the acclaim of critics and audiences.
