The Seventh Congress of Eucarpia, the European Association for Research in Plant Breeding, toolc place in Budapest from 24 — 29 June 1974. The subject of the Congress was Heterosis in Plant Breeding, and included review papers and shorter communications by leading research worlcers from different countries all over Europe. These papers cover theoretical aspects of the problems of heterosis breeding in a wide range of self-pollinating and cross-pollinating crops, and analyzes the physiological basis of heterosis, together with examples of the practical application of heterosis in plant breeding.
