Histological Typing of Tumours of the Central Nervous System The second edition of thís book is the result of a collaborative effort of neuropathologists from 14 countries and is more extensive and detailed than the previous edition, which was published 14 years ago. Several new tumour entities have been added, including the pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma, the central neurocytoma and the more recently defined dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumour. The list of histological variants has been expanded, and for most neoplasms key data are given on immunoreactivity and differential diagnosis. Since the World Health Organization (WHO) grading system fór neuroepithelial tumours has gained popularity worldwide, it has been continued and applied to new entities, but as before, its use is optional. The text of the revised CNS tumour classification is accompanied by 106 colour photomicrographs.
