This is the fifth edition of a well known and widely used book whose popularity continues to increase and which has become to be regarded as one of the greatest in its field.
While retaining the popular characteristics of previous editions, this new edition of Ham reflects, throughout its pages, all the new advances which have taken place in the study of histology. The text has been considerably enlarged with the addition of new material and 140 new illustrations have been added to this already well illustrated volume.
Amongst the new material which has been added there is a new section on the subject of chemical components of tissue and there are now three chapters devoted to cell structure and cell biology. Immunologic reactions are studied from the stand-i point of the cell in this new edition. This is particu-f larly important to investigators of immunology problems in the homotransplantation of tissue and organs.
