Hungary Through the Centuries
This volume honors the academic careers and scholarly contributions of two exceptional teachers: Professor Steven Béla Várdy, McAnulty Distinguished Professor of European History at Duquesne University and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and his wife. Dr. Agnes Huszár Várdy, formerly Professor of English and Communication at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and Adjunct Professor of Comparative Literature at Duquesne University.
This volume consists of thirty-nine essays written by European and American fi colleagues, as well as by former Várdy students. It covers a wide variety of topics. Each contribution is a testament to the esteem and high regard in which the Várdys are held on both sides of the Atlantic for their dedication to the advancement of knowledge and scholarship.

The Editors
Richard P. Mulcahy, Editor-in-Chief, is Professor of History and Political Science at'' the Titusville Campus of the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the Editorial Board of The Journal of Appalachian Studies, and Fellow of the Center for Northern ^ ! Appalachian Studies at Saint Vincent College.
János Angi, Associate Editor, is an Associate Professor at the University of Debrecen, Hungary, and has been a visiting scholar at several European and American universities.
Tibor Giant, Associate Editor, is Associate Professor and Chair of the North American Department at the University of Debrecen. He is the author of four scholarly monographs.
