ABOUT THE AUTHOR Doranne Jacobson is an anthropologist, writer, and photographer who has lived and worked in India for many years. She received a Ph.D. from Columbia University and is the author of many articles and a book on India. Her photographs have appeared in a wide variety of publications and exhibits, and many have won awards. She is a frequent lecturer and consultant to educational and international organizations. The author currently resides in Springfield, Illinois.
