This book is meant to acquaint the reader with Hungary, with the multifarious aspects of Hungarian life.
The forty-six chapters are devoted to the land an people of the country, to her history, state and social organizations, economic life, to public health and sports, to educational and scientific life and institutions; there are chapters on Hungarian literature, theatre and cinema, on music and dance, on fine arts and folk art. International relations are also dealt with, including an enumeration of the diplomatic missions abroad and foreign-trade enterprises.
The encyclopaedic description of the country is supported by a large number of statisdcal data and tabuladons ; bibliographic references to works in foreign languages are given after each section; the book is illustrated throughout by hundreds of pictures, including sixteen colour plates, several maps showing Hungary in different periods of her history, including two coloured maps of present-day Hungary.
