J. E. Flood, editor and part-author of this book is professor, and head of the department, of Electrical Engineering at the University of Aston in Birmingham. He joined the university after 20 years in the telecommunications industry. During this period he held a variety of positions including that of chief engineer of the Advanced Development Laboratories of the telecommunications division of Associated Electrical Industries, Ltd. He has served on many bodies concerned with the development of telecommunications and has been chairman of the Institution of Electrical Engineers Professional Group Committee on telecommunication networks and-systems.
The other authors all have extensive experience of telecommunication systems with major operating, development and manufacturing organisations, and they are recognised authorities in the fields covered by their contributions to the book.
